Description:

Proposed residential care home development requiring detailed investigation and design to overcome shallow mining issues.

Scope of work undertaken:

• Desk Study – detailed review of previous third party reports and liaison with the Coal Authority
• Ground Investigation and grouting via rotary drilling under Coal Authority Permits
• Identification of a shaft during grouting – probe drilling to assess condition and depth of shaft using steel safety platform and lanyards.
• Design of Shaft Cap / interface with proposed vibro ground treatment and supervision works
• Design of grouting works and supervision works
• Validation closure permits for Coal Authority sign off
  

Through supervision and liaison with the Coal Authority delays to construction program were minimized.
